120 ft Native Trout Mural & Trout Education Tank
Tax deductible
Hey there, my name is Chris Peterson. I'm a mural artist who is passionate about wild trout. I've been working on this cool project in SLC in a collab with the Utah Wildlife Federation and Utah Trout Unlimited to celebrate Utah's state fish, the Bonneville Cutthroat Trout.
We originally secured funding for a 10x10ft mural, but we approached the Neighborhood Hive - a local community market in the Sugarhouse area of SLC- about a prominent 17' x 120'ft wall on 2100 South. They loved the idea of highlighting local wildlife, so we decided to team up and create something spectacular on the wall.
The mural, which will be the spotted flank of a juvenile Bonneville Cutthroat Trout, will highlight the “Trout in the Classroom” program in nearby schools(managed by Utah Trout Unlimited) and habitat conservation efforts funded by the Utah Cutthroat Slam (a partnership between Utah Trout Unlimited and the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources).
We're planning to unveil the mural on October 22, at the First Annual Bonnie Ball Festival: an annual family-friendly festival at the Neighborhood Hive that celebrates this native species and raises awareness and funds for native trout conservation in Utah.
We need to raise $5000 and we'd love your help: $2500 for paint and equipment rental and $2500 to install a "Trout in the Classroom" tank program inside the Neighborhood Hive. Open six days a week, we are excited to make available a place for everyone to learn about and wonder at the early lifecycle of trout.
Help us celebrate those native trout!
