Utah Cold Case Coalition
Thousands of murders remain unsolved in this country because DNA testing is too expensive. With your help, these cases can be solved.
Despite being staffed entirely by volunteers, we are one of the most creative and aggressive cold case organizations in the U.S. We began in Utah, but are now contacted by families and law enforcement throughout the country. Early on, we discovered how much evidence remains untested due to funding issues. We're doing something about it.
We are excited to announce that our Coalition will soon begin offering not-for-profit DNA testing in cold cases. Construction of the lab has begun, and qualified lab personnel have been recruited. The lab will be fully accredited/certified. This Go-Fund-Me is to purchase testing equipment itself, including:
Applied Biosystems 3500 Genetic Analyzer (8-capillary), 3500 data collection software 3 ($60,000) (see example below)
Applied Biosystems 9700 Thermal Cycler ($2,000)
ABI 7500 Real-Time QPCR System-Complete system ($19,000)
(The total cost of equipment and supplies will be closer to $200,000.)
This is a badly needed service that will revolutionize the investigation of unsolved murders and disappearances in the U.S. Please help us bring closure to these families. We are a 501(c)(3); donations are tax-deductible.
MORE ABOUT US:
Our efforts have received media coverage throughout the U.S., including the Washington Post, Crime Report, Fox News, CBS, ABC, the Investigation Discovery Channel, etc. Check out our Facebook page, and our brand new YouTube channel.
