Use Your Privilege To Change Systematic Racism

We are two black women born from African and carribean backgrounds who have had very different yet similar experiences of being black, as one of us who was raised in Africa and came to Uk at a young age and the other born and raised in the uk. We have both witnessed different things but the white privilege in both places remains the same
We know no one is born racist. However, a lot of people are subconsciously racist which doesn’t make them any better than people who are openly racist and saying you are not racist is not enough. White privilege is a real thing that a lot of people do not believe exists.
Our goal is to create a non judgemental space for white people and anyone else, inside or outside of the black community to come along with an open mind to educate and also be educated about things like: systematic oppression/racism, how white people can do more to be anti racist whilst using their privilege to eliminate it, cultural appropriation and why subtle racism is just as bad as direct racism. We will also touch on who black people were before slavery i.e our history, cultures and backgrounds.
Lastly we plan to bring to light colourism in the black community and how we can grow in unity.
We aim to make every person who attends this event leave with a positive mindset and a plan of how we can change the world together.
We will hold this event once a month(a date in July to be confirmed), around different locations in London. We would appreciate volunteers from black backgrounds who would like to come and contribute by speaking out about black issues and sharing ideas of how we can all work harder towards achieving the equality and change in the world for future generation.
Any donations made will be used to provide a space to rent, resources like: books, microphones, speakers, a projector, and also we will be providing refreshments and safety equipment like gloves, masks and hand sanitizers to keep safety measures in place due to Covid-19.
We are grateful for your support and make sure we utilise every penny towards creating a platform that will gradually make a difference in the world for future generation. Please share with friends and family to help us reach our goal.
