My gorgeous family and I are taking part in the Leeds Abby Dash on Sunday 30th November.
Something we have had planned for months.
My dad Brian, who was ready to stand on the sideline and cheer us on, peacefully passed away on Friday 21st November after facing what seemed like a long, (yet very short) battle to bowel cancer. After being diagnosed in July 2024 with already stage 4 Bowel cancer, began his journey with chemo and radiotherapy with the hopes that a miracle would happen and things would get better. Unfortunately, things did not plan out the way we hoped and it wasn’t long before he had an emergency surgery and had a stoma bag put in place. Determined not to let it affect him, he carried on exactly the same way he always would by cooking, working and going out doing things he loved. Things took a turn for the worst and he deteriorated dramatically over the last few weeks and unfortunately couldn’t manage his pain well enough at home.
Dad went into the amazing care of Loros Hospice on Tuesday 18th November where he spent his last few days still managing to be brave for us all with a smile on his face telling us that this next unknown chapter of all our lives would be okay. Loros couldn’t have done enough for all of us and did whatever they could to make us all feel comfortable just as much as they did for Dad.
Since Myself, my brother Kieran, step brother Bertie, step mum Sarah and boyfriend Sean were all already due to run this race on Sunday with Dad watching we would love to be able to raise some money for Loros Hospice to be able to thank them for everything they did for all of us so they can continue to support other families in similar situations as ours.
