JOIN THE MOVEMENT: Mobile Teaching Kitchens - Transforming Lives through Nutrition Education

About Us:
The Mobile Teaching Kitchen (MTK) Initiative is a groundbreaking intervention designed to address the pervasive issue of malnutrition and diet-related challenges. We're passionate about empowering communities and sharing essential knowledge and skills through nutrition education. The MTK program is our vehicle for promoting better health and well-being among women, children, and families in communities across the nation, especially those facing marginalization and limited access to resources.

Our Journey:
We've embarked on an incredible journey by launching two micro-pilot units in the USA, located in Washington, D.C., and New York City. These units are our first steps toward addressing the complex issue of malnutrition. However, we're aiming for much more, and we need your support to expand our reach to other areas across the country.

What's the MTK?
At its core, the Mobile Teaching Kitchen model is a powerful and innovative alternative to the shortcomings of existing food systems. It's our way of combating malnutrition among underprivileged and vulnerable populations, with the ultimate goal of ensuring food and nutrition security for all. Here's what the MTK initiative is all about:

1. Community-Centered Approach: Local volunteers and healthcare practitioners collect demographic data and assess the nutritional status of participants, creating a solid foundation for tailored interventions.

2. Co-Creation of Nutritious Recipes: We work collaboratively with communities to develop extensive recipes that reflect what they need and want to eat. To enhance dietary assessment, we partner with the MyFood24 app.

3. Behavioral Change: Our program focuses on driving positive changes in nutrition knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP), empowering marginalized communities to improve their overall nutritional health.

4. Nutrition Champions: We train members from these communities to become 'nutrition champions' and culinary health educators using the See-One, Do-One, Teach-One (SODOTO) model.

5. Micro-Enterprise Development: Our initiative goes a step further by facilitating the formation of micro-businesses. We empower people to generate income, achieve financial security, sustain a healthier lifestyle, and break free from intergenerational
poverty.

6. Traditional Nutrition Education: Our approach incorporates storytelling through cooking demonstrations and nutritious, cost-effective menu templates.

7. Acknowledged Impact: The program has garnered recognition and awards for its
accomplishments, including the Society for Nutrition Education and Behavior Nutrition Education Program Impact Award, Glenmark Nutrition Award, Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) Impact Acceleration Award, British Medical Association Research Charities Award, Global Challenges Research Fund Joint Award, and many more.

The Impact:
For every six champions we train, we can reach up to 24,000 individuals annually, providing them with access to healthy, delicious, and affordable meals that meet all their nutritional requirements. It's not just about addressing malnutrition; it's about transforming lives and communities.

Your Support Matters:
By supporting the Mobile Teaching Kitchens initiative, you're directly contributing to a project that tackles both undernutrition and overnutrition at the grassroots level. Our Mobile Teaching Kitchens are more than just an idea; they're turning research into tangible, real-world results for a healthier, empowered, and more sustainable world. However, to continue this important work, we need your support. Your contribution will enable our 'Champions' to keep enhancing nutritional awareness, improving diet quality, and generating income for themselves and their communities.

Join Us:
We urge you to share this campaign with your friends, family, and networks, and be part of a movement that's truly making a difference. Every contribution, no matter how small, takes us one step closer to our vision of a healthier, happier world.
Together, we can create sustainable change!

* A percentage of your donation will be sent to the NNEdPro Global Institute for Food, Nutrition and Health for redistribution to other MTK units in LMICs.
