On Sunday morning at 7:20 a.m., our world was turned upside down. Our oldest son, only 19 years old, was in a devastating car accident and almost lost him. We are grateful he is still with us, but his car is totaled and he has been left with a broken back. The surgeon has told us he will be out of work for 10-12 months.
He had just started a new job three weeks ago, working hard installing doors and trim — a job that required heavy labor. Because he was so new to the workforce, he isn’t eligible for temporary disability, and he didn’t have insurance through his job yet.
Right now, he cannot walk, stand on his own, or even do simple daily tasks without help. His father and I have both had to take time off work to care for him full time. We’ve had to rent medical equipment, including hospital beds and walkers, and the costs are quickly overwhelming us.
Our son is struggling emotionally as well as physically. At only 19, so much has been taken from him all at once — his independence, his job, his car, and his sense of normal life. As parents, we are heartbroken to see him go through this, and we are doing everything we can to lift him up and support his recovery.
We are asking for help to cover his medical expenses, equipment, basic living costs, and to ease the financial burden while we focus on getting him through this difficult journey.
He has grown into such an amazing young man, and we are so proud of the person he is becoming. Anyone who knows him knows his kind heart, humor and determination. We hope with your support, we can help him heal physically, emotionally, and financially.
Any amount you are able to give will make a difference, and if you are not able to donate, we deeply appreciate your prayers and shares. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with us during this difficult time.
