Dear neighbors and friends,
Recently I read a sincere message for help from our neighbors, Dennis and Trudy Uram which was posted on Nextdoor.com. The original text of his plea for help is copied below.
In summary, an unkind neighbor reported to the City of San Jose that they needed to remove their American flag pole in front of their house, and the storage sheds in their back yard (which has been there since 1974!). While it is difficult for me to understand how these items on his own property could interfere or harm anyone, he has been officially given a citation to remove them by mid April, otherwise face stiff fines.
Dennis is a US Marine Corps Combat Veteran, and served our country during the Vietnam War. He is retired and on a fixed income, so this is an unnecessary expense that will run them tens of thousands of dollars.
I have spoken to Dennis and asked his permission to create this fundraiser to help him cover expenses. He mentioned that he has spoken to contractors and replacing his sheds might well exceed $50K+. (demo, disposal, rebuild)
On Nextdoor.com, over 360 neighbors with comments have expressed their support to offer advice, labor assistance, and just voice their desire to help.
He is very grateful for the community support.
Please join me to donate whatever you can to help Dennis and Trudy rebuild their flagpole and sheds in order to meet the City codes.

City of San Jose Came to my house and Cited me for Having a Flag Pole with the American Flag and Marine Corp. Flag in my front yard and having a Surveillance steel Pole in my front Yard as well.
Code Enforcement mentioned that a neighbor filed a complaint to the City.
The Neighbor also Complained about my Storage shed, that has been there since 1975. Also My Man Cave, That I put a lot or Money into, Complaining that It's above the fence Line. According To the Code Enforcement Inspector Everything will need to be Demoed/ Taken down, This is going to cost me Thousands of Dollars to do everything the City wants me to do, I am on a fixed Income, Retired and USMC Viet Nam Combat Veteran. I have lived hear with my family since 1974. We are the Original owners.
I am Asking if anyone can HELP me out with this Matter. Does anyone know anyone that works for the City Code Compliance For San Jose ? Or does anyone Know of an Attorney that may be able to help me out.?
I need to know what my rights are.
I appreciate Any Help I can get with this Matter.
