Help us cover the cost of IVF!

Hello everyone!

I am posting this GoFundMe on behalf of my brother Dylan and his wife Jov. They have been trying to get pregnant and need some help covering the cost. Their story is below.

I (Jovelyn) have lived in Taiwan for almost eight years, and my husband has been here for eleven. We met seven years ago and have been married for three.

We began trying to get pregnant in the fall of 2021. We soon found out that we are suffering from infertility. I am 35 years old and turning 36 this year. In November of 2021, we saw an obstetrician who referred us to a fertility specialist in the same month. I have a very low AMH (a hormone that affects my egg reserve) for my age. In addition to my low AMH, I also have EFS (empty follicle syndrome). We have learned many new acronyms while going through this process. EFS means that it is difficult to retrieve eggs, even after using the stimulation medication.

My husband was also tested, and we learned he has a low sperm count and poor sperm quality. Because of the result of my husband’s test, we needed to see a urologist the following month to find out why. The urologist told him that he has a varicocele, a congenital condition that affects his sperm. Unfortunately, if we want to have a child, our only option is to do IVF and ICSI.

IVF is a costly process. We failed our first IVF cycle because my body didn’t react enough to the stimulation medication, and the doctors could only retrieve one egg on the retrieval day. We want to continue trying until we are successful, but we may not be financially able to do it.

Our plan is to return to the US after giving birth in Taiwan as soon as it is safe to travel with our newborn. Raising our child near their grandparents is important to us, and your contributions will help make that possible.
