Hi this is Tiffany and Mike. We have been fighting to bring our 3yr old great niece Esmay home to be with us for the last year and a half. Many of you know our story and the story of what happened to our niece Kayla, who was Esmay’s mother. She was tragically murdered at the age of 21 by her boyfriend, who is still awaiting trial. We are still waiting for justice to be served for her.
She left behind our beautiful Esmay, who at the time when this horrible event happened, was about two years old.
We filed our case in September of last year, and have been fighting ever since. Battling a woman who thought she was the grandmother, but is not from proven paternity tests, and my sister who is simply just fighting to keep her away from us, not even with her.
As most of you can imagine the attorney fees and travel to Washington multiple times to be able to visit with Esmay and be present for court dates has become quite expensive.
We have hesitated to do anything like this as we do not want to feel like we are asking for charity, but were recently reminded that it takes a village to raise a child and that we are not asking for charity. With that said, we are simply reaching out to you, our village of amazing people, to see if you can help us across the finish line.
We got the court order last week that the judge has finally seen the facts and has ordered for Esmay to be placed with us temporarily until the trial, as of January 15th.
We still have to go through the whole process of a trial, which has been rescheduled for October 12th.
There is no amount that is too much to offer this little girl, the life that she deserves and the life that her mother didn’t have. We are willing to do everything it takes to get there.
We appreciate anything that anyone can do to help us get us across the finish line of this fight.
Thank you with love and gratitude!
Tiffany & Mike
