A WILDLY HOPEFUL Thanksgiving
I have an idea...
We are heading into the long weekend where we celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving. I am joyfully overwhelmed by all of the goodness in my life in this season.
This is not to say there isn't hard stuff, because there's that too. But, for this weekend, for today, I want to focus on things that are good and beautiful. I want to live with an open heart and generous hands. I want to do a little something to make the world a bit of a brighter and more hope-filled place.
And so, here's my idea.
What if we raised $10,000 this weekend to support children in our global village? $10,000 to help children learn to read. To build bright and hopeful futures. To reduce literacy inequity.
It sounds big. And it is. That's the whole point.
On my own, I have nowhere near $10,000. But I can spare a $5er, maybe even $20. And I believe in the power of community, of people coming together to make the impossible... possible!
So, what if 2,000 of us came together this weekend and raised $10,000 to support Niteo Africa Society?
They have had an INCREDIBLE year and need to catch up on some of their fundraising so they can continue to do the big and beautiful things they've been dreaming & scheming.
And if 2,000 of us each give FIVE DOLLARS, we will reach $10,000.
I don't think I know 2,000 people, but I know a few :) And they may know a few more people. And together, I think we'll hit 2,000 people in no time. Maybe even more.
I feel a bit foolish putting this out into the interwebs, but I also feel wildly hopeful that, together, WE CAN RAISE $10,000 THIS WEEKEND!
Would you join me?
