64km for my 64 years - Running for life, gratitude, and community
On May 12, 2025 I was diagnosed with prostate cancer, with an aggressiveness level of 4 on a scale of 5. Like many who receive this kind of news, I experienced fear, disbelief, and a moment where everything seemed to stop.
Throughout this entire process, from diagnosis to treatment, I was cared for at Saint Joseph Hospital, through the Urology Wellness Center. What made the greatest difference was not only the medical expertise, but the compassion and humanity shown by every member of the team.
From the very beginning, I felt supported, respected, and truly cared for. I was never treated as just another patient. Every appointment reinforced that I was not alone — an experience that reflects the very best of Canadian healthcare.
After surgery and later exams, I received the words that will stay with me forever:
“Everything is clean. You are cancer free.”
That moment marked a new chapter in my life — one grounded in gratitude and perspective.
Why 64 km?
This year, I am turning 64 years old. To honour this milestone and the gift of health, I am taking on a 64kilometre run.
This challenge is not about competition or performance. It is about resilience, gratitude, and giving back to the community and healthcare professionals who supported me during one of the most difficult moments of my life.
That is why I created this fundraiser, with 100% of all donations directed to the Urology Wellness Center — so that others may continue to receive the same compassionate and high quality care that made such a difference in my journey.
