Single mom of 4 needs help with car repairs!!
Two of my four kiddos are disabled. Because of this, I do 3+ appointments every week and travel out of town periodically for surgeries/treatments in addition to driving for work and our day-to-day needs.
I put $11,000 into my car to have the engine & rear suspension replace, but about 4 months later, it started breaking down again. It’s the catalytic converter this time, which is very expensive to repair on top of having the A/C repaired, as my daughter with cardiogenic syncope cannot handle heat well and passes out if she gets overheated.
I am unable to sell my car to use the money towards a new one, as I can’t sell it for enough to pay off my loan and for a down payment on a new car. I saved as much as I could with my limited income (employment & disability). When myself and my children's dad parted ways, he took all of our other money with him, leaving me with $235 (excluding what I’d saved for my car). I was forced to do an unplanned, emergency move because I couldn’t afford the rent on my own where we were, and he refused to pay his half. This move wiped out a lot of my savings & current income reserves. I am left with about $2,200 towards my car.
Without my car I have no clue how I will get to work, get my kids to all their appointments, get them to urgent care/the er when needed, or do household errands. The bus would be very difficult with my many children and our supplies. It would be impossible to get to all of their appointments on time. Besides the fact that the extreme weather (hot or cold) affects two of my children’s medical issues, so the bus can be problematic during summer & winter especially. Uber is too expensive due to how many appointments we have. MTM only transports the patient & one guardian, but I have all of my kids with me most of the time, so it’s not a viable option either.
I am at a loss of what to do as I do not have much support/help where we live. All of our family lives out of state, but my divorce & custody agreement prohibits me from going home to be closer to them. I am needing as much help as I can possibly get to get my car back on the road, please and thank you so much!!!!
