Our friend has been hospitalised as their condition is more precarious than initially understood. They are accessing life saving treatment and everyone is feeling hopeful!
Unfortunately, they will remain in hospital at least until rent is due. They’ve also had to miss a big paid gig.
At this point they really need our help covering rent.

The purpose of this campaign is to raise funds for a chronically ill, working class, artist on unpaid employment leave necessary to stabilize their health following several months without crucial medications.
I will refer to this individual using only their preferred pronouns throughout this telling in an effort to respect their privacy.
They are a trans non-binary BIPOC and a newcomer to Toronto, having moved to Ontario in search of healthcare after experiencing significant discrimination in the province in which they first received Canadian permanent residency.
Since their arrival they have worked, both as an accomplished artist and in a day job, to find housing, build community, get settled, and make ends meet.
Unfortunately, pronounced medical trauma, incurred via experiences of systemic bigotry, has proven an obstacle in their efforts to access appropriate treatment and medications over the past few months.
Their health has deteriorated severely due to this lapse in care.
They have felt acutely unwell, terribly afraid, and terrifically alone.
I am pleased to report that they have recently secured OHIP and are now on track to receiving proper care. This will eventually allow them access to much needed medications through the Trillium Drug Program.
With this said, it is MEDICALLY IMPERATIVE that they rest to promote healing at this time.
Their health has been dangerously destabilised.
This means they truly must not work, despite their drive to do so.
These processes take time.
Without our support, they could easily find themselves facing loss of shelter before being
well enough to work again.
I am trying to raise funds to help cover their basic necessities throughout this period of recuperation, namely rent, phone, and nutritious food.
I cannot extol the virtues of this beautiful human adequately. They are a kind and loving person who lights up rooms with their playful spirit, stunning talent, and genuine warmth. Their presence and work enriches our community enormously.
They have so much to contribute and they need our help.
Let’s rally together and support them in their healing now.

About Me: I am an emergent healthcare worker with a background in harm reduction and birth doulaing, a musician, and a working class, disabled, queer, Fat Femme/cat lady who believes wholeheartedly in (and has personally benefited from) collective community care.
