LIFE SAVING MEDICAL HELP NEEDED FOR DARLENE GHOSTDANCER SPEARS
Hello Everyone,
I am helping to raise emergency medical funds for my Spiritual Sister and best friend, Darlene GhostDancer Spears. After nearly dying from botched medical treatments due to a former cancer (thankfully now in remission), Darlene is now facing another life-threatening challenge and urgently needs immediate surgery on her infected jaw bone.
The surgeon wants to do the surgery immediately but the hospital is refusing this critical care, unless she comes up with over $3,000. in co-pays IN ADVANCE of her surgery (which "needed to happen yesterday"). She was originally misdiagnosed, which has prolonged her agony.
"Osteomyelitis of the jaw is an uncommon infection of the maxillofacial area. The disease is often difficult to diagnose, and thus delays in treatment are common, increasing its morbidity. The clinical, radiographic, and laboratory findings of the disease; its forms; and treatment modalities are reviewed."

According to Darlene's surgeon:
The bone on her lower left side has died (necrosis) and he is going to have to take her jaw apart. It has "turned to mush", on the lower left jaw bone, Her lip nearby is now getting numb. She has been on antibiotics for several months and they are not working. This is really scary!
The threat is for the infection to go beyond the blood/brain barrier and/or sepsis, both are potentially deadly. She is in excruciating pain. The surgeon told her to go to the ER to get admitted, so she can get this emergency surgery right away. He is ready to do it. She went to four ERs and no hospital would admit her. She is in a tremendous amount of pain.
The surgeon said he needs to cut away all of the infected area ASAP and reconstruct her jaw bone. If done soon, she can avoid deformation, however, the major concern here is that Darlene's condition is potentially deadly, if not treated in time.
Due to a previous misdiagnosis, with dental insurance coding (this is NOT a dental issue and it has nothing to do with a tooth), the hospitals refuse to treat her unless the surgical copays are delivered up front. We have been working to change this insurance coding glitch, will update if we have any success.
Darlene is on Medicare but she has no current supplemental insurance to cover the hospital and other medical testing and follow-up copays. She will need co-pays for the extensive after-care, post surgery, so I am asking, on her behalf, for a total of $5,000. to begin to cover these necessary costs. If she needs more later, we can do another GoFundMe but for now, we need for Darlene to get that surgery ASAP.
As many of you know, Darlene's house was flooded this year, due to heavy rains. They have been applying for FEMA funds to restore the damage to her home, which houses her son, his wife, her brother and 4 children/grandchildren/foster children.
Darlene has had over a year of tragedy, as she ushered her beloved husband, Glenn Spears, back to Creator. Glenn passed in her arms from their loving home. This woman is as strong as they come but this latest challenge has taken a tremendous toll on her system.
