I'm 61 years old, dealing with a trifecta of health, financial, and unemployment issues following a bad 7 years.
I had managed to avoid homelessness for the past year, but am now homeless.
I am camping out, for the time being, in the office trailer at the worksite where I'm employed, until I get organized with housing. I had thought I could manage this for a few weeks, but it is turning out to be much more challenging than I thought it would be, both in terms of comfortable sleep and in terms of toilet and hygiene. I am also awaiting a schedule of radiation treatments which is delayed until I have housing.
Finding an apartment is also more challenging than I had expected, and at this point, I'm really worried that I will remain unhoused for a considerable time, something that will impact not only myself, but also my daughter.
I've seen an apartment that I really like, but need to accomplish 2 things in order to lease it:
They are requiring a guarantor.
Move-in costs are $3000. Although I have much of the furniture needed, in storage, there would be a few items I'd need and would also need to hire a mover. These would require another $2000.
This is time-sensitive. The leasing company will hold the apartment for me until EOD Monday or Tuesday morning, at the latest, if I'm unable to satisfy these 2 requirements.
I apologize for being troublesome. It is not my usual or natural state. I am working hard to stabilize my life.
