Our Story
My name is Vickey, and I never imagined I’d be here—on a platform asking for help at 66 years young. But due to a series of heartbreaking and unforeseen circumstances, I now find myself fighting not just for myself, but for my elderly mother and my emotional support dog, Blue.
We are facing the possibility of homelessness within the next three weeks, and I have no reliable transportation to get us to safety—my car broke down and I can’t afford repairs, a tow, or a replacement.
We urgently need help to move into a modest, safe home where I can give my mother the peace and stability she deserves at 86 years old. A place with a little yard for Blue to stretch his legs, and the security to stop wondering where we’ll sleep next.
This isn’t about luxury—it’s about basic survival. It’s about love. And it’s about dignity.

What We Need
With your help, we’re hoping to raise enough to cover:
• First month’s rent
• Security deposit
• Last month’s rent (if required)
• Pet deposit (for Blue, my registered emotional support dog)
• Application and move-in fees
• A small down payment on a used car, so we can get to appointments and essentials
• Gas, registration, insurance, and small car repairs
Goal: $3,000
(Every penny will be used for safe housing and transportation)

Why This Matters
My mom gave me all she could—now I want to give her a peaceful, stable home in her golden years. My dog Blue helps me manage anxiety, depression, and chronic illness. We are a team of three, and we simply want to stay together, safely.
I’ve always been a fighter. I taught senior dance classes, organized public flash mobs, cared for others as a nurse, and now I’m working to become a senior advocate for rental scams, because I know firsthand how painful and dangerous these situations are.
I’ve also been working to launch a live-streaming project for older adults to help inspire reinvention after 50—but technical problems with the app have delayed my ability to start.
⸻
I Know I’m Not the Only One
I know many people are hurting right now. That’s part of what makes this so hard to write. I’ve hesitated for weeks, because truthfully—I’m embarrassed. I never expected to be here at my age. I don’t want to take limited public assistance funds when others need them too.
But I have nowhere else to turn.

Every Share, Prayer, and Dollar Helps
Whether you can donate, share this campaign, or send encouragement—thank you. You’re helping a mother, a daughter, and a dog hold onto hope.
If we exceed our goal, I promise to use any extra to help others—through my scam prevention work and support of fellow seniors facing the same fears.
Thank you for listening. Thank you for caring. And thank you for believing that second chances are worth fighting for.
With all my heart,
– Vickey
