Urgent Support for Family's Basic Needs

My name is Samantha and I am creating this gofundme on behalf of Marehan Shaheen and her family. I met Marehan and some of her community earlier this year and have always felt so much love from her and her family. Marehan leaves behind her parents, her brother and his children, her sister, her husband and their children. Below is what Marehan has shared:

My family is in a desperate situation made difficult by displacement, famine and war. My family is without housing or basic necessities, struggling to survive and far from thriving. I have found refuge in Berlin, but I struggle to provide for myself in a foreign country with no support or resources. Having my family in Gaza depending on me as their only source of help is something I cannot do alone.

Back in the war zone my family's needs are larger than my own.

My mother urgently needs medical treatment for her pain, but we do not have the finances to lift this burden from her. Her diabetes and high blood pressure goes unmedicated and she is in critical condition, unable to walk. This is only the beginning of our troubles.

Ultimately, I want to provide all I can for my family, and to provide the funds not only for survival but for, medical care, and rebuilding our lives as quickly as possible.

Being a refugee without support is difficult, and right now we are trying to get back on our feet.

It is a struggle to feed the children, and with a large family, our needs are immense. We seek to move forward for the sake of the children, proving for them all we can as well as to my mother, brother, sister and all my nieces/nephews.

One of our children, Zain, has always been a top performer in school. Who loved studying, was proficient with computers, and had a passion for football. He dreams of returning to school, having a laptop for his studies, and living like other children, with a stable home to wake up in.

Elaine is a smart and determined girl who dreams of becoming a dentist because she's not afraid of toothaches, she says. She always tries to be the strongest, but now she feels like she’s almost forgotten how to read and write. Despite this, her big dreams and fearless spirit inspire her to keep going and find a way to achieve her goal. We want to be the change in her life and want you to make that change with us.

My nephew, Yazan is a child tormented by relentless fear, especially at night. He screams incessantly, unable to find peace or silence. Yazan is in desperate need of treatment to help him overcome this suffering caused by the trauma of war. He is only a baby and does not deserve this.

We are in dire need of food, drink, clothing, and medical treatment. We seek help to improve our situation and give our families children a chance at a better life and a hope for reuniting our family outside of the war zone. It would mean access to proper medical care for my mother, a peaceful environment for Yazan to recover, and opportunities for Zain and Elaine to continue their education and pursue their dreams. All of which can be achieved with financial support.
