EDIT 2/7/26:
Thank you so much to everyone who donated, shared, and showed support for Village Corner. The outpouring of kindness means more than words can express.
After thoughtful consideration, we’ve decided to end this GoFundMe, and all donations will be refunded in full. Donors will receive confirmation directly through GoFundMe.
This was launched with genuine love for a business and community we care deeply about, and we are incredibly grateful for every person who tried to help. Thank you again for showing up.
For nearly 7 years, Village Corner has been more than a restaurant, it’s been our place.
It’s where OUR VILLAGE'S:
- Graduation/Birthday parties were celebrated
- Baby & bridal showers were hosted
- First dates/date nights happened
- Sunday brunch became tradition
- Families gathered around the table
- Business deals were made
- Happy hours turned into friendships
Village Corner is woven into the fabric of Afton Village and the Concord/Cabarrus community.
Now, after two unexpected winter storms forced them to close during two critical weekend periods, Village Corner suffered a $26,000 loss, revenue they simply can’t recover from on their own.
Without help, they will be forced to close their doors for good on Sunday night, February 8th.
_______
Why This Place Matters
Village Corner has always shown up for this community.
Over the years, they’ve given back in meaningful ways, including:
- Donating meals during COVID to Cooperative Christian Ministries, as well as local Fire & Police departments
- Supporting CVAN, Salvation Army, and local schools
- Providing over $60,000 in $10 gift cards to Cabarrus & Rowan County teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week over the past two years
- Donating and supporting Local Veterans causes, honoring those who have served
- Donating to First Responders First, helping first responders injured in the line of duty
- Supporting organizations that help foster youth transition out of foster care
- Sourcing from local farms, including Green Leaf Farms, Green Life Farms, and Frank Corriher Farms
They’ve done all of this quietly, consistently, and without asking for recognition.
Village Corner also employs 29 local people... 29 livelihoods that are now at risk.
_______
Why We’re Asking Now
This is a 3-day window to make a difference.
We’re aiming to raise $26,000 to cover the losses from the storms and give Village Corner the breathing room they need to stay open and keep serving the community they love.
That’s:
- 1,000 people giving $26
- or 500 people giving $52
- or whatever you can contribute
Every single dollar helps.

A Note From the Owner, Ryan
“The last 2 weeks have been an incredible struggle being closed over the weekend. Unfortunately, we are not able to find a way to overcome the loss of business. We’ve explored all options but have accepted reality.
The next sentence is probably one of the toughest I’ll ever write. Village Corner will be closing its doors.
I’m hoping you’ll join us for one last weekend at the Corner. The goal is to promote this as a celebration of VC, our team, and our community. This coming Sunday will be our last day open. Let’s rock it out one last time!
We have so many great memories created by so many wonderful guests. We hope to see you this weekend.
Much love,
Ryan”

A Note from a Organizer/Regular, Teresa Lynn Clayton
"GoFundMe won't allow me to share this unless I tell you all who I am, as the organizer. I am a Concord resident who has been coming to Village Corner since they opened their doors. Both of my kids' post graduation lunches were here. I pop in during the work week to hop on my computer and work often, and the staff has become like family. We are regulars for weekend brunch, where I harass them for extra extra gravy. It's the place where my son bought his Mama lunch for the first time and my Go To lunch spot with my daughter. It truly is a place of COMMUNITY, and I never step foot in the door without seeing friends, colleagues, or neighbors. I know we can make this happen for Village Corner, so we can all enjoy "our spot" for years to come. Thank you, in advance, for showing up strong to lend a helping hand to a place that holds such great memories for all of us!
