March Rent Neighbor-2-Neighbor Fund for Central Neighborhood

Donation protected
The neighbors of Central Minneapolis have stood strong for months in the face of ICE’s violent siege. To get through March, we need your support again.

Please donate today to raise $300,000 in direct rent and mortgage support to Central Minneapolis neighbors in need.

How Funds Are Used: Our volunteer team of neighbors will provide payment directly to either the renter/mortgage holder, or, if requested, to their landlord/mortgage company. Anyone located in Central Neighborhood is eligible for funding; requests are coordinated by a network of trusted neighbors so that each sheltering household remains directly in relationship with members of their community. All raised funds will be distributed at an equal percentage across all neighbors who have requested assistance toward March. The more we can raise, the more we can offer our neighbors!

The Present Situation: Despite the news of an ICE drawdown, our reality is that ICE and the effects of their presence continue to threaten Minneapolis communities. While hundreds of Central neighbors have wisely and courageously chosen to protect their families by sheltering in place, thousands who have who been able or willing to risk working have faced reduced hours, fewer customers, and business closures that dramatically reduce their income. The economic impacts of this occupation are severe for these families and for our community as a whole. As some businesses reopen and neighbors assess the safety of returning to work, many families will need support to cover March rent as they get back on their feet.

Our February Impact: With the generous support of thousands of caring people like you, we were honored to provide full rental assistance for February, including back-owed rent, to every family who requested it. As of now, all money raised last month was given to neighbors. Thanks to your donations, our February fundraising exceeded our $300,000 goal and allowed over 200 families in the Central Minneapolis neighborhood to remain safely housed. With immense gratitude for your support, we are again raising funds for any neighbors in Central who need financial support to maintain the safe and stable housing they need and deserve.

Our Current Need: Our $300,000 fundraising goal reflects the March rent needs of neighbors who received support in past months, as well as our team's estimate for the needs of economically impacted neighbors who did not hear about rental assistance in time to apply. Many of these families also have back owed rent.

Two Donation Options: This March Rent Fundraising page is organized directly by our volunteer group of trusted neighbors for fastest delivery of funds toward March rent. If you would like to give through a donor-advised fund or require a tax-deductible donation receipt, you can give via check to our Fiscal Sponsor, CANDO (Central Area Neighborhood Development Organization) using the details below:
