My chosen family Ashlynn and MG are a disabled trans couple living in the deep south in Mississippi. They are terrified for their lives. They need your help to escape their current living situation and make a new start in a safer state.
Over the past few months, everyone in the US has gotten a glimpse of the nightmare that awaits the US for the the next four years and beyond - highlighted by yesterday's SCOTUS decision. While living in the deep south, they have experienced some of those horrors first hand. As the federal government is gutted, the state of Mississippi will take more of their rights away. They will lose vital access to what little healthcare is available, especially trans healthcare. As misinformation and hateful rhetoric spread, extremists in their town are becoming emboldened to threaten and attack people like them. They cannot afford to wait around and find out how bad things will get there.
Unfortunately, both of them are severely disabled, and haven’t been able to work in several years.
Both of them have POTs, mobility issues, CFS, and related severe post-viral conditions. Both of them have Celiac, which makes living with others dangerous unless the whole household is gluten free. MG also has Lyme disease, which further complicates things. Both are mostly housebound, and each regularly experiences days (to weeks) of being entirely limited to their bed.
Every dollar they are asking for is necessary for them to successfully escape Mississippi. They need to do a large amount of repairs on their car. Most of the remaining money will be used to pay rent for the two of them and their cat, as well as bare minimum food and necessities. Starting goal is the baseline for getting away. It would be best for them to have a year’s worth of rent before they leave, because of the physical strain of uprooting themselves and moving across the country will put them out of commission for upwards of six months. For that reason I will be raising the goal if met to give them a better shot. The downside of moving up north is that the cost of living is so much higher; they have had to factor that into their calculations.
With your help, they can get to safety and start over again. Thank you so much for supporting them
