The need arose because last night Asher's ex-wife had her attorney send Judgment of Paternity documents and filed for a Dissolution of Paternity trial in June. The judge assigned to this trial, the ex-wife's lawyer, and the ex-wife all refuse to use Asher's correct pronouns.

Asher and their ex-wife share twins. Those twins were brought into the world by having Asher's eggs fertilized by donor sperm and implanted into the ex-wife's uterus. The ex-wife and their family are conservative, have moved Asher's twins to Michigan, and are making it as difficult as possible for Asher to see them. The twins desperately love Asher and are struggling emotionally because of the actions of Asher's ex-wife. Asher puts in tons of effort to stay connected to the twins by FaceTiming them daily, playing video games and reading books with them, and staying involved in their day-to-day lives, interests, and activities as much as they can from California. The ex-wife is now trying to claim that Asher is not a "real" parent and has no rights to the twins because Asher didn't provide sperm or grow the twins in their uterus.
