Urgent: Keep Chicago TM Center Open

Your Chicago TM center has just had its best month of teaching since pre-pandemic times. This is hopeful because the economics of the center were based on that more active time before the pandemic. But, for the most recent 24 months, we have relied on reserves to keep the center open.
We have been working with the landlord to reduce the rent, and at the same time raise local support to fill in the financial gap when teaching revenues don’t fully support the center operations. We’re approaching you now to help with this temporary shortfall. Time is of the essence as December 10th is the deadline for any commitment to extend the lease. Please choose the monthly option if you're able to donate more than one month, so we can sustain the Center for a year.
Here are the numbers:
- TM center rent is now $4800/month, but we’ve negotiated that rate to $3000/month for the next 12 months starting January 1st.
- Our goal is to raise this $3000/month.
- We have a matching commitment of $1500/month, so this reduces our ask to $1500/month.
- We’ve only just started but have raised $320/month towards that goal, leaving $1180/month for 12 months needed to raise.
- We think we can get there with this GoFundMe campaign.
- We hope to get 25-50 well-wishers willing to commit to relatively small amounts ranging from $15-$50/month, or more.
As you know, the Chicago TM center provides huge value to the community by
Teaching TM (to over 200 this year), and offering:
- Group meditations
- TM refreshers
- Advanced Lectures
- Guest Lectures
- Personal Checking
- Advanced Techniques of TM
- TM Retreats
If we fail to meet this short-term financial goal, we have been told that the center must close December 31st. As you know, this is a great location to continue to offer this program and would be a great loss to the community if we lost it.
