URGENT: Help Us Close the Final £3K for Wayanad’s Future!

Hi everyone,
The Devastation:
On July 30, 2024, catastrophic landslides ripped through Wayanad’s tribal villages (Mundakkai & Chooralmala). Homes vanished. Livelihoods drowned. Families who lost everything now face a cruel second wave: predatory “digital institutes” selling worthless courses to those desperate for hope.
This isn’t just poverty – it’s exploitation.
Imagine: A mother spends her last ₹5,000 on a “guaranteed job” digital course… only to receive a PDF certificate and empty promises. This is happening right now.
Our Solution: A Lifeline That Lasts
With Educational Resource Centre (ERC) and CIGI, we’re creating a community-owned learning hub – designed by locals, for locals. No handouts. No predators. Just:
✅ Real skills training (IT, carpentry, farming tech)
✅ True digital literacy (tools, not scams)
✅ Entrepreneurship incubator
✅ Job pipelines with ethical employers
✅ Women-led cooperatives for sustainable income
This hub becomes their shield against exploitation and engine for opportunity.
The Challenge: Why Iceland?
4 EXL-UK colleagues will trek 75km across Iceland’s volcanic wilderness (Þórsmörk to Landmannalaugar) for 5 days – carrying only 10kg packs, sleeping in tents, facing sub-zero winds.
This trek mirrors the resilience Wayanad needs.
Your Impact – Transparent & Tangible
EXL-UK has already committed £5,000. We need just £2,000 more to fully fund Year 1.
Every pound goes 100% to ERC (no admin fees).
Why Professionals Like You Matter
This isn’t charity – it’s smart investment in human capital:
Break cycles of exploitation with education, not aid
Build resilient communities that create jobs
Your expertise matters: Share this or mentor remotely (reply if interested!)
Deadline: Funds needed before the hike departs on September 9th.
