Urgent: Help the Shipibo-Conibo Tribe Rebuild Their Well!
Donation protected
At the end of August 2024, the only well serving the Shipibo-Conibo family of the Jochipapanete Healing Center in Peru’s Amazon rainforest collapsed, leaving the family without its vital source of clean water. This is a critical need, and we urgently ask for your help to fund a new well for this incredible indigenous family.
Who Are the Shipibo-Conibo People?
The Shipibo-Conibo are an Indigenous group whose rich traditions and spiritual practices have been passed down for generations. Their origin story speaks of a harmonious cosmos, crafted by the Creator Spirit Konuá using sacred patterns (kené) that weave together all of existence. Central to their culture is the balance of dualities—light and dark, male and female, earth and sky.
Ayahuasca, a sacred medicine, is a key part of their spiritual practices, connecting the physical and spiritual realms and revealing the cosmic patterns that sustain life. The Shipibo have long been stewards of the rainforest, living in balance with nature while sharing their healing arts and traditions with the world.
The Shipibo-Conibo family that resides at and operates the Jochipapanete Healing Center exhibits a boundless kindness. A small group of travellers along with my partner and I were afforded the wonderful opportunity to visit and stay with them. When we arrived we were immediately treated as family. Our ailments tended to, and our needs met, with love and care. Thanks to their efforts each and everyone one of us left there a better and more complete person.
About The Jochipapanete Healing Center
The Jochipapanete Healing center resides in the Ucayali region of Peru, near the sacred thermal waters of Aguas Calientes. The women of the family create beautiful embroidery and beadwork, while the spiritual leader, Maestro Deodomero, continues his family’s shamanic lineage at the Jochipapanete Healing Center alongside his counterpart Maestra Rosenda.
Established in 2021, this center was Deo’s lifelong dream: a place where Shipibo maestros (shamans) could share their ancestral healing arts with people from around the globe. The income from the center helps support their community and preserve their way of life.
Why Your Help is Needed
The collapse of their only well has been a devastating blow. Without it, the family and the healing center are left without ready access to clean water, the most crucial basic necessity for daily life and their sacred ceremonies. The expense of building a new well is far beyond what the family can afford alone.
How You Can Help
Your donation will go directly toward digging a new well to restore water access for the Jochipapanete Healing Center and the Shipibo-Conibo Family that lives there. Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a tangible difference and help sustain their cultural legacy, healing practices, and livelihood.
Together, we can support the Shipibo-Conibo in their time of need and honor their invaluable contributions to our shared planet. Please donate and share this campaign widely to help us reach our goal!
Thank you for your kindness and support.
