Hi, I'm V. I'm raising money for my friend Tabitha, a queer artist, designer, crochet maker, and devoted mom of two toddlers. She's one of the most resilient people I know, and right now her family needs us.

I've known Tabitha for three years through organizing circles online. In that time, I've watched her constantly show up for other people, sharing mutual aid posts, boosting fundraisers for her community and for people abroad, putting other people's needs ahead of her own again and again. Now she's the one who needs help, and I want to make sure her community shows up for her the way she's shown up for everyone else.

A couple weeks ago, Tabitha and her family had to leave their apartment because it was rat-infested and the property management refused to bring it up to code. They found a new place, applied, and were ready to move on. But their old leasing agency, the same one that let their home fall apart, gave the new landlord a bad reference out of spite. The application was denied. They were given a last minute notice only days before they were set to move in!

For days, they were essentially homeless with two toddlers. Right now they're stretching every dollar to stay in a hotel and every night there is another night they can't put toward the deposit.

They've now found a new place, but they need $1,000 for the deposit by Monday to lock it in. Her husband works full-time and is currently out of town, and Tabitha runs her small art and crochet business from home, but with everything hitting at once, they can't close the gap fast enough on their own.
