Urgent Help Needed: support HORAC shelter home in Nepal

Ciao a tutti, Namaste!

mi chiamo Clarissa, ho 28 anni e sono stata una volontaria presso HORAC – Home for Rescue of the Afflicted Children, una piccola ma straordinaria realtà nei pressi di Kathmandu, in Nepal. HORAC accoglie bambini che hanno perso la famiglia o che provengono da contesti estremamente difficili, offrendo loro una casa, cure amorevoli e tutto il necessario per vivere: dal cibo all'istruzione, dalle cure mediche a un tetto sicuro. Ogni giorno, i volontari si impegnano per garantire che questi bambini abbiano una vita serena, supportandoli sia nelle attività quotidiane che in quelle straordinarie.

Purtroppo ad oggi HORAC si trova in una situazione di stallo. Le difficoltè economiche in cui versa rischiano di portare alla chiusura del centro e al dislocamento dei bambini, costringendoli a lasciare l’unico luogo che chiamano casa.

Aiutando a raccogliere i fondi necessari, possiamo fornire a HORAC la stabilità finanziaria a breve termine, permettendo loro di concentrarsi sulla ricerca di sponsor permanenti e di finanziamenti sostenibili. I vostri contributi aiuteranno a soddisfare le necessità immediate

COS’È HORAC?

HORAC - link- è un’organizzazione non governativa dedicata a fornire cure, istruzione e un ambiente sicuro ai bambini orfani e vulnerabili del Nepal. Fin dalla sua fondazione, si impegna a far crescere questi bambini affinché diventino membri autosufficienti e resilienti della società. Ad oggi qui sono ospitati tutto l’ anno 22 bambini tra i 9 ed i 18 anni e tutti loro frequentano le scuole elementari, medie e superiori.

Purtroppo, la pandemia di COVID-19 e le sue conseguenze economiche hanno gravemente ridotto il sostegno dei donatori, i quali hanno dovuto ritirarsi dal progetto. Attualmente, HORAC sopravvive con una donazione mensile di 500 USD e con i contributi dei volontari, una somma purtroppo insufficiente per coprire tutte le spese cui questa deve fare fronte. Questo mette a serio rischio la stabilità di HORAC, rendendo difficile soddisfare i bisogni primari dei bambini.

Abbiamo bisogno di raccogliere €10.380 per coprire le spese più urgenti dei prossimi sei mesi, tra cui:

I fondi raccolti garantiranno supporto essenziale a HORAC, assicurando ai bambini un’alimentazione adeguata, accesso all’istruzione, cure mediche e un ambiente di vita sicuro.

La cifra raccolta al 14 dicembre, 3070 euro, è già stata utilizzata per il pagamento dell'affitto del mese di novembre, dicembre e gennaio, e per il pagamento di metà delle spese scolastiche. Per questo motivo stiamo continuando con la raccolta fondi e sostentare HORAC per il pagamento delle spese essenziali al loro mantenimento.

My name is Clarissa, I am 28 years old, and I have been volunteering at HORAC – Home for Rescue of the Afflicted Children, a small but extraordinary community near Kathmandu, Nepal. HORAC provides a home, loving care, and everything necessary for children who have lost their families or come from extremely challenging backgrounds. This includes food, education, medical care, and a safe roof over their heads. Every day, volunteers work to ensure that these children can live a happy and serene life, supporting them in both daily and extraordinary activities.

Unfortunately, HORAC is currently at a standstill. The severe financial difficulties it is facing risk forcing the closure of the center and the relocation of the children, compelling them to leave the only place they know as home. By helping to raise the necessary funds, we can provide HORAC with the financial stability it needs in the short term, allowing them to focus on securing long-term sponsorships and sustainable funding. Your contributions will enable them to meet their immediate needs.

This is why our help is more crucial than ever.

ABOUT HORAC

HORAC –link - is a non-governmental organisation committed to providing care, education and a safe home for orphaned and vulnerable children in Nepal. Since its establishment, it has been dedicated to helping these children grow into self-sufficient, resilient members of society. Currently, 22 children aged 9 and 18 live at HORAC, year-round, attending primary, secondary and college school in the area.

However, the COVID-19 pandemic and its economic consequences have drastically reduced donor support, forcing many of HORAC's key donors to withdraw from the project. At present, HORAC survives on a monthly donation of 500 USD, supplemented by contributions from volunteers, a sum that is woefully inadequate to cover all the necessary expenses. This puts HORAC's stability at serious risk, making it difficult to meet the children’s basic needs.

WHY YOUR SUPPORT MATTERS

We need to raise €10,380 to cover the most urgent expenses for the next six months, including:

• Food supplies: €2,500

• School fees (for the academic year 2024-2025): €4,000 -- already paid half of it

• House rent (for 6 months): €3,100 -- already paid 3 monthly installment

• Medical insurance: €280

• Water expenses: €230

• Electricity expenses: €270

HOW YOU CAN HELP

The funds raised will provide essential support to HORAC, ensuring the children have adequate nutrition, access to education, medical care, and a safe living environment.

As of December 14th, the amount collected, €3,070, has already been used to pay the rent for November, December, and January, as well as to cover half of the school expenses. For this reason, we are continuing the fundraising efforts to support HORAC in covering the essential expenses necessary for their upkeep.
