Urgent Help Needed: Housing for Jess, Ava, Liliana, and Odin

Donation protected
Imagine facing eviction with three school-aged children, one of whom has a serious medical condition that makes emergency shelters a dangerous risk. That's the heartbreaking reality my niece, Jessica, and her kids (pictured here with their great-grandfather) are living right now.

On June 1st, 2025, Jessica and her three children – Ava, Liliana, and Odin – will be evicted from their home in Amesbury, MA. This isn't just about losing a roof over their heads; it's about finding a safe and suitable environment for Odin, whose complex medical needs mean that typical emergency shelters are not an option for their family.

Their Story:
Jessica is a dedicated single mother who has been tirelessly working to provide for her children while managing Odin's intense medical requirements. The simple truth is that the rent has become far too high for what she can earn. She recently lost a job because the employer couldn't accommodate the time needed for Odin's crucial medical appointments.

With little additional financial support beyond Odin's care allowance – which falls far short of covering basic living expenses, especially rent – Jessica has been fighting an uphill battle. She received some emergency state funding for a short period, but those funds quickly ran out, and she faces a long, uncertain wait on affordable housing lists. She's actively working with her case manager, but suitable options are simply not appearing quickly enough. The stress, uncertainty, and fear for Odin's health are immense for their family.

How Your Donation Will Help (Our Goal: $12,000)
We are urgently trying to raise $12,000 to secure safe, stable housing for Jessica and her children. This goal is based on covering their immediate and short-term needs, which include:

Emergency Short-Term Housing: This is the most critical need. Securing a safe place for them for up to 90 days while they await suitable permanent housing is vital, especially for
Odin's health. Odin lives with pulmonary hypertension, requires constant oxygen, and is at risk of severe health complications in a compromised environment. We estimate this at approximately $700 per week, potentially up to $11,100.
Moving Expenses: Around $40 for a U-Haul rental.
Storage Costs: Approximately $150 per month for their belongings during this transitional period.

Future Housing Security: Any remaining funds will be used for essential costs once they secure permanent housing, including security deposits, first/last month's rent, utilities setup fees, and basic necessities during the transition (food, school supplies, essential medical supplies for Odin, and transportation to new appointments).
This funding will provide a crucial bridge, allowing Jessica the time and stability needed to secure a permanent, safe, and affordable home for her family without the added fear of homelessness and risk to Odin's health.

How You Can Help
We know everyone's circumstances are different, but every bit of support makes a direct impact on Jessica and her children.

Donate: Please consider contributing any amount you can. No donation is too small.
Share: If you're unable to donate, sharing this campaign with your social networks is incredibly powerful. The more eyes on this, the better chance we have of reaching our goal.
Local Support (Amesbury, MA area): If you are local, practical help is also invaluable! This could include leads on suitable housing, connections that might expedite affordable housing options, offers of temporary storage space for their belongings, or direct moving assistance.

Transparency and Updates
To show you the direct impact of your generosity, we will be posting updates twice monthly, or sooner if there are significant developments in their housing search.

To demonstrate the urgency and authenticity of their situation, we are sharing a photo of Jessica and her beautiful children, as well as a redacted copy of their eviction order.

Please help us provide a safe haven for Jessica, Ava, Liliana, and Odin. Your compassion and support can make all the difference in ensuring this family has a place to call home.
