Hello, my name is Nick. Writing this is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do because I’ve never been good at asking for help. But right now, for the sake of my wife and our six children, I have to swallow my pride.
Since October, our family has been hit by a relentless wave of tragedy and bad luck that has completely wiped us out. It started when my mother passed away. We used our entire savings to travel to see her one last time before she went.
Just two weeks later, as we were grieving, our cat passed away. Shortly after that, our dogs got loose, and the costs associated with retrieving them took the very last pennies we had in our bank account. To make matters worse, I was recently fired from my job.
We have tried everything to stay afloat, but the domino effect has been devastating. We fell behind on bills, causing our power to be shut off. To get the lights back on for the kids, we had to use our rent money. While we have power now, that decision made us late on rent.
Our property manager has made it clear: If we are even one day late again, we will be evicted. We are also facing the repossession of our only vehicle. We are currently standing on the edge of homelessness with six children, and we have nowhere left to turn.
We are asking for help to catch up on rent and save our car so I can find work and keep a roof over my kids’ heads. Anything helps—even a share.
