On the Thailand-Myanmar border, in a place called Suan Phueng, Ratchaburi, a small Christian orphanage is always in need of food and supplies for children who have lost everything. The children living in the orphanage are ranging from newborns to 17 year-olds and they are Karen refugees, an ethnic minority fleeing war, persecution, and extreme poverty in Myanmar. Bilay House is run by loving and caring people but they are always in need of basic food supplies, toiletries, nappies and sanitary products. Many of the childrens’ parents died in the jungle while escaping violence, car accidents and other tragic incidents.

Despite their desperate need, the orphanage is not recognised. This means the orphanage has no official support, no legal recognition, and no access to basic resources, leaving the children reliant on donations by locals.

Why We’re Fundraising

We are Sumeya and Molly, students at Eastleigh College, and we first learned about this orphanage through our teacher, who was asked by a colleague, Wendy, if she had any students who would interested in the project. After hearing about the extreme struggles these children face, we knew we had to take action and do everything we can to give these children a future.

Our teachers’ colleague, Wendy, will personally help deliver the funds, equipment and basic foods, but please note that none of the donations will go towards her travel expenses- every penny raised will directly benefit the children, and she is funding the trip to deliver the aid entirely out of her own money.

On the 4th of June 2025, we will be doing a charity networking event for small businesses at Solent University. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the orphanage.

Mosquito Nets – Protection from deadly diseases like malaria and dengue fever.

Dormitory Essentials– Bedding, hygiene supplies, sanitary products and other necessities for a safer, healthier environment.

Gardening Equipment - Resources for gardening equipment so that they can plant their own food.

This Christian orphanage is their only source of hope, but without help, they are at risk of hunger, sickness, and further displacement. Every donation, no matter how small, will make a real impact in their lives.
