Urgent help for the Wilsons to find a secure home.

We are the Wilsons. In December, 2023 we got married and moved in together in a duplex-living situation: our family would maintain one floor, and we’d have the bottom floor with a complete kitchen, bathroom, living room, storage pantry, etc. We were intended to have privacy, our space not invaded, and a comfortable place to live while we settled into our new marriage.

That soured quickly.

Since then, in the past 14-months, we have been restricted to only our bedroom, and a bathroom (that is not ours nor private.) We do not have easy access to fresh water, showers, clean clothes, needed medication, and - as of today - my wife’s mobility aid.

We both work as much as we can, but limited hours and limited jobs due to physical and mental disabilities split between us makes it difficult. We are able to make enough money to cover the cost of rent, however the family we stay with often springs unsuspecting fees on us and criticizes constantly the work we do.

And, to intensify matters, we are currently faced with eviction. On April 19, regardless of our situation, we will be kicked out. If this happens and we have not found a secure place, we will both be separated for several months as we fall back on relatives in other states for housing. So not only are we needing funding for up-front apartment costs, but we are faced with a quickly approaching time constraint.

Our issue is getting the money we need saved up, and getting out. The start-up costs for an apartment or house far exceed what we make a month, as they often require a high security deposit, application fees, safety deposits, first months rent, last months rent, and sometimes even an additional month’s worth. For a $900 rental, we might look at paying a start up of nearly three grand. That’s where we need help.

Because we’re young and new to the independent life, there is very little credit history that we could lean on for a loan, and even obtaining a higher credit line is currently an impossibility. We humbly ask you for assistance. Meeting our goal will allow us to move on to the next steps of our lives, and grant us a place to begin the family we so desire.

Please donate what you can and know we are extremely grateful for any assistance you are able to provide.

Thank you,

The Wilsons.
