My name is Tanesha Clark, and my four beautiful children, all eight and under, are my entire world. Every decision I make, every challenge I face, is for them. Lately, those challenges have become overwhelming, and I'm reaching out with a hopeful heart for a helping hand.

Six months ago, I lost my job of eight years. It was heartbreaking, and honestly, it felt incredibly unfair. My youngest son, just a year old, has faced an unimaginable series of health battles. From contracting COVID-19 at two weeks old, to emergency stomach surgery, pneumonia, rhino, and a two-week hospitalization for RSV – his little life has been one health crisis after another. As any mother would, I chose to be there for him, providing the close care and attention he desperately needed. This meant calling out sick twice and even being tardy when his breathing machine was essential, often right when I was scheduled to leave for work. These choices, made out of a mother's love and necessity, ultimately led to my dismissal.

Since then, finding employment has been a struggle, and my unemployment case has been pending for six long months, with no end in sight. My 401k, a safety net I worked so hard for, vanished in a blink, eaten up by overdue and current bills. As a single mother, the weight of these burdens can be immense, especially when your primary goal is to keep your children safe and secure.

Adding to our difficulties, our current home has been plagued by issues. Over the past two years, I've notified my landlord of more than six leaks, which spiraled into an astronomical $5,000 water bill that the water company has been unwilling to help with, even with proof of the leaks. We've now been served notice to vacate by August 1st, leaving us scrambling to find a new, safe place to call home.

I used to be so afraid of judgment, of asking for help. But for my babies, I've learned that sometimes, it's okay to reach out. I'm a single mother who simply needs a fresh start with my children. We dream of a comfortable home where they can thrive, free from worry.
