My name is Micah , and I am asking for urgent support for my grandfather, Joe
My grandfather lived in the United States since he was 19 years old. He is now 67. For nearly 50 years, America was his home. His daughter, grandchildren, and entire family are here in the United States.
He was recently detained and deported to Nigeria before our family even had the chance to say goodbye. By the time his attorney responded, he had already been removed from the country.
My grandfather has medical conditions that require daily medication. Right now, our biggest concern is his health. He does not have stable access to his prescriptions, reliable healthcare, or secure housing. He has not lived in Nigeria for decades and does not have a strong support system there.
He described his experience at the Central ice processing center in Louisiana facility and transport experience as frightening and traumatic. At nearly 70 years old, the stress and physical conditions have taken a toll on him. Now he is in a country that feels unfamiliar, trying to navigate healthcare and basic needs without stability. The flight from to Nigeria I believe is 14 till like 16 hours so for him to go without medication at long and without hearing from him is scary. We are still going to work on bringing him home but it seems like Nigeria might have to be his home for a while until things get situated he has no housing no clothes no food no medication we didn’t get a chance to say goodbye. Like many other people will. Everything happens so fast I wasn’t prepared. I don’t have all the information as of yet.
