Urgent: Help Cindy and Merlin Save the Last Things They Have Left

Hello friends and neighbors,

I am creating this fundraiser for Cindy, a woman in our community who is currently homeless and facing an urgent crisis.

Tonight, Cindy came to my door crying around 9pm, asking for help. I was able to give her a hot meal, but I am not in a position to provide financial assistance.

Tomorrow morning, Cindy's storage units are scheduled to be auctioned due to unpaid fees. Inside those units are the contents of her entire life: family photographs, cherished keepsakes, clothing, personal belongings, family heirlooms, and important documents, including her birth certificate and other identification records that are critical for rebuilding her life.

Two years ago, Cindy lost her mother. She has no family to rely on for support. She is currently homeless and sleeps outdoors alone on the ground in a wooded area nearby with her dog, Merlin.

Earlier this year, Cindy suffered a back injury after falling on a sidewalk while pulling a wagon with her belongings. This made it even more difficult for her to work or stay current on her storage payments, and the account fell into default.

Without a current address, credit card, or readily accessible identification, even basic emergency options such as hotel stays or certain services are extremely difficult to access.

Cindy has also struggled to find shelter options that can accommodate both her and Merlin, and she has remained with her dog rather than separate from him.

If these storage units are auctioned, Cindy will lose irreplaceable personal history, family memories, and essential documents that may be needed to obtain identification, employment, housing, and support services. Once these items are gone, they cannot be recovered.

We are urgently trying to raise enough money to stop the auction before it happens tomorrow morning. Any funds raised beyond that amount will go toward Cindy’s immediate needs, including food, transportation, and efforts to secure safer temporary shelter.

Time is extremely limited.

I'm working to get in contact with the manager of the facility to ensure her personal documents are returned in the event they are auctioned in 10 hours, but a donation to pay off the debt and give her emergency housing for the week is my goal until we can get help from a local women's shelter.
