My name is Annie, and I am raising money to help keep my family together and my beautiful mother-in-law from being placed in a nursing home. Over the past year, my husband and I have watched the overall health of my mother-in-law decrease, making everyday tasks such as cooking, cleaning, bathing, and overall self-care both scary and challenging. Falls have landed her in hospitals and, most recently, a stay in a local rehabilitation center until her doctor feels she is strong enough and her home is safe enough for her to return to.
My mother-in-law is one of the most beautiful people I know, inside and out. She is strong, kind, witty, and funny. She values her independence and has lived alone in a one-bedroom apartment for the last six years. I am afraid that her years of living alone are behind her, but I would like to ensure that she keeps what freedoms she can and can find herself surrounded by her own things and familiar family that loves her and can care for her at home, not in a nursing facility.
In addition to the needs of my mother-in-law, my husband has had his own share of health scares over the past two years, including a pulmonary embolism and surgery to remove a blood clot that stretched from his knee to his navel. It was revealed to us in the past week that there is a small growth on his lung that will require monthly bloodwork and twice-a-year scans to ensure that there is no malignant cancer taking root. My husband has been staying on his mom's couch to help watch out for her, leaving myself and our daughter without him. We need a larger place to live that will accommodate all of us and be close to my job and daughter's school so that we are not separated and can manage the many challenges we are facing.
Fortunately, there is a three-bedroom apartment in my mother-in-law's current complex that is available to rent right away. Unfortunately, the cost to move now, including the deposit and difference in monthly rent, is more than we can afford this month after paying current monthly bills during the summer months when I am not working. The pay my husband will receive for helping care for mom at home and my pay for substitute teaching will more than cover the increase in bills, leaving my mother-in-law extra money to spend on things she would like and will allow us to keep her out of a nursing home. But, we really need help NOW to pay the initial rent and deposit increase, as well as the prorated monthly rate for the rest of July. The cost is nearly $1600.
Please consider donating to this cause. I trust that God is going to provide for my family and move in ways that strengthen the faith of those who hear our story. I pray that the glory of God be evident in this endeavor. Amen, and God Bless You All.
