URGENT: Help an Iraqi Woman and Her Daughter to Survive
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Evelyna, and I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of a friend's family, who are currently living as refugees in Jordan. Ban Hikmat Shafo and her daughter are from Iraq, and were forced to flee their home by ISIS. Since coming to Jordan, they have endured immense hardship. Currently, they are living in housing that is uninhabitable, dealing with flooding, harsh cold, snakes, and scorpions. They are unable to find work as opportunities are limited for women and those without status. They cannot afford Residence Permits, which come to $50,000 USD (approx. $70,000 CAD) for two people, and they cannot afford decent housing or other necessities of life. Ban is dealing with medical problems for which she cannot receive treatment due to a lack of funds, and her daughter is unable to receive an education.
Because GoFundMe does not allow people in Jordan to receive donations, I am acting as an intermediary. When I receive funds from GoFundMe, I will send them immediately as a money order to Ban. Please give whatever you can. No one should have to live in such miserable conditions without help.
Below, you can read Ban's and her daughter's experience in their own words:
‼️URGENT NEEDING MATTER‼️HELP, SUPPORT & SAVE AN IRAQI MOTHER WITH HER ONLY CHILD TO SURVIVE, SURVIVE HOMELESSNESS AND SAVE HER YOUNG CHILD'S LOST EDUCATION FUTURE‼️
Please, I truly hope this message reaches souls with kind hearts who care about our miserable tragic situation.
I pray, hope and appeal the good people to do whatever they can, whether it is spreading the word and sharing the link about our condition or donating. Anything you can do for us is much much appreciated.
My name is Ban Hikmat Shafo, we’re from Iraq. I live with my only daughter alone. We lived in an uninhabitable house because we’ve gotten threatened by ISIS. ISIS forcefully made us leave our city, Mosul, and moved to live in another area in an abandoned house unfit for human habitation, unsuitable both health-wise and psychologically. Our current living situation does not have the minimum requirements for suitable housing.
Where snakes and scorpions roam in the summer.
Winter is harsh cold and the roof leaks from rain and snow.
Our lives are far from a normal human life. We hate our lives; every passing day we wish for death because of our miserable life……
We live in a society that does not respect nor appreciate women. If a woman is alone, have no one to back her up — she becomes an easy vulnerable exploited prey.
Job opportunities here are non-existent for an old woman, and my young angel daughter was forced to leave her studies to look for work, and there was none, which put her academic future in great danger. She is now stopped in her studies, her future is wasted before her eyes
The circumstances of society here do not support the weak.
Our psyches have become destroyed, everything to us has become a nightmare.
We have no where nor home to go back to anymore, moving from one place to another to search for a decent life in vain.
We had to leave our homeland and live in another country in search of a little tiny hope, but the life situation here is even harsher. As foreigners, we are forbidden from working without having a Residence Permit and we cannot obtain a Residence Permit because it costs money that we do not have.
We are becoming lost day after day, heading towards rock bottom.
As a mother, a woman I get older day by day, I suffer from diseases and cannot receive treatment, and in my situation, I cannot provide a stable life for her, and this greatly affects my sweet precious young girl mental health anxiously
We lack the minimum health requirements,
All our attempts have failed.
You are our only hope.
For the sake of my little girl’s and her future, I ask you to be kind to us and offer us a helping hand so that we can continue on the path and start a new, dignified life to become free from the fear and anxiety of homelessness and loss.
{ my best regards }
~Bless your hearts,
thank you with deep gratitude and respect♥️.
