There's no place safe in Sudan anymore....

My aunt and her three young daughters, who once sought safety from the conflict in Khartoum by relocating to AlJazeera state, are now trapped in an unthinkable nightmare.

Just days ago, as the RSF (Rapid Support Forces) raided their village, my cousin – her autistic son – was tragically shot in the eye. He was caught in a moment of terror during a violent raid, a horrifying episode that no mother or sister should ever have to witness.

Now, they are left grieving his loss, forced to flee on foot, hoping to reach the relative safety of Port Sudan or any nearby refuge from the violence.

For over a year, they’ve endured hardships in AlJuneid, a city in AlJazeera State where conditions are barely livable. They’ve faced severe water shortages, an unrelenting lack of electricity, and skyrocketing inflation. Amid these harsh circumstances, the spread of cholera and the frequent harassment by RSF forces have made day-to-day life terrifying. As the violence escalates, this family – like so many others in Sudan – is caught in an unimaginable reality, fearing for their lives each day. Lists of the injured and deceased grow by the hour, and the safety they once sought has been replaced by fear and loss.

My aunt, now carrying the immense weight of her son’s death, is terrified for her daughters, who remain at constant risk of abuse and further trauma. This fundraiser is an urgent call to get them to safety. They are in a life-or-death situation, moving only with what they can carry, determined to protect each other, and praying to make it out alive. The funds raised will go directly to help with the costs of transportation and evacuation, providing a path for them to escape this dangerous reality.
