Help Us Care for A. Janine May After the Loss of Both Her Parents

Our family is asking for help during one of the most heartbreaking times of our lives.

Janine is 26 years old and has lived with epilepsy since she was just four years old. Her condition is severe and completely disabling. She requires constant, around-the-clock care for her safety and wellbeing. When left unattended, she is at high risk of serious seizures that can cause injuries.

Because of her condition, she cannot walk and relies on a wheelchair. She cannot dress herself, feed herself, use the restroom independently, or shower without assistance. She has significant speech impairments and struggles to communicate her needs. She also requires daily medications throughout the day and cannot safely use basic technology due to the risk of seizure episodes.

For most of her life, her parents were her full-time caregivers in Pennsylvania. A few years ago, her father passed away from cancer. Just one week ago, her mother—her primary caregiver and her whole world—also passed away. The savings we had for her care went towards her mother's funeral, so unfortunately we are now scrambling to get the proper funds all while balancing our regular jobs.

In a matter of days, she lost both of the people who dedicated their lives to caring for her.

With nowhere else to turn, we have brought her from Pennsylvania to California so she could receive temporary conservatorship and ensure she is safe while we navigate the overwhelming process of transferring her medical coverage, benefits, and care services to a new state.

Right now, we are in urgent need of support while we work through this complex transition. The funds raised will go directly toward:

24/7 caregiving support

Medical expenses and medications

Adult diapers and personal hygiene supplies

Wheelchair and mobility needs

Transportation to medical appointments

Legal and conservatorship filing fees

Securing placement in a proper long-term care facility

This has all happened so quickly, and the emotional toll of losing both parents while trying to ensure Janine's safety has been overwhelming. We are doing everything we can to give her stability, dignity, and proper care during this transition—but we cannot do it alone.
