Urgent Assistance for Josie's Dads Care

Hi, my name is Josie Fitzgerald. On February 23rd, 2023, my father had a fall which changed our lives forever. He was walking up a step and fell on his head, causing a subdural hematoma and concussion. He was then admitted into the ICU. Ever since that day, he’s never been the same. I became his caregiver and I have been learning as I go. Without family to help, it has been a huge struggle. My whole life I watched my dad be the caregiver for my mom up until she passed in 2020. Now it’s my turn to care for him.

After many attempts at caring for him at home and being a full-time college student, I knew I didn’t have the capability to care for him the way he needed. With his memory loss, heart disease, diabetes, and now permanently in a wheelchair, it has been very difficult to manage. I eventually got him into an assisted living facility until a VA nursing home opens up for him. I have been handling all finances for my dad and for myself. Two months ago my dad had a heart attack on top of everything else he’s dealing with, which increased his level of care at his facility unexpectedly. It hasn’t been easy and unfortunately, I’ve hit a roadblock.

He is still not in a VA nursing home and is at risk of being kicked out of his assisted living and I have no other option. We are back on payments for two months and I don’t know how to catch up or pay for this next month and I’m just needing some help. Im trying my best to care for him and I have done as much as I can financially but it still isn’t enough. Anything is greatly appreciated.
