Urgent Assistance for Family's Recovery Journey
When life throws you curves, sometimes it's hard to get out of the way. Trying to make lemonade out of lemons... easier said than done. On Thursday, May 16th, we had severe weather warnings. A 100-year-old oak in the neighbor's yard was uprooted and fell directly on the roof. I've been out of work for 8 consecutive months. I've pleaded for help and just can't seem to land anything. I'm educated and have a lot of experience in the IT field.
Right now, my parents are staying in a Holiday Inn Express and I'm at the Woodspring Suites. The electricity is off and we are unable to go back in the house until the tree is completely removed. Thank God we have people who rush to our aid. This is when the rubber meets the road and you find out who your real friends are. Everyone we have come in contact with has been extremely giving and helpful. It's just not quite enough to cover this kind of expense. Yes we did have insurance but only on contents of the house. The house itself was my grandfather's and was in the middle of a succession. The best we could do is get renters .insurance until it was solved.
This will cover the expense of repairing the roof, the tree removal, and living expenses for the short term. Red Cross and others are helping, but it just isn't quite enough for three people. I'm not complaining, I really appreciate everything everyone's done, even just the kind words. But if you could spare anything and planned on giving anyway, this will help someone you actually know. We have nothing to hide, any questions you have, you can ask. And please share this with anyone you think would be able to help.
The dollar amount is only listed because I was mandated to list it.
p.s if you look closely under the carport there is a 2024 Kia Sportage about a month old sitting under the pile of rubbish. The vehicle is my parents My mother's handicapped in a wheelchair and the van had hand controls. hand controls are extra above the price of the car and you have to pay $1,800 cash. I just want to put this into perspective. when it rains it pours. I know there's others that haven't much worse and I wish I could do something to help. first I have to help myself and my family. anything you can do would be appreciated it and if you can't do anything in monetarily prayers are always appreciated.
Thank you. Godspeed.
