Urgent Appeal: Save Our Parish Church
Donation protected
Hi, my name is James and I’m setting up this fundraiser on behalf of St Andrew’s Church in Landford, a place that’s been at the heart of our village for generations.
This beautiful church, built in the 1800s and designed by the famous architect William Butterfield, has served as a cornerstone for local life — from joyful weddings and Christmas services to moments of quiet reflection and remembrance.
But now, St Andrew’s is in crisis.
In December 2024, a severe storm caused serious damage to the church steeple, blowing off a trap door and damaging the roof. Water leaked inside, cracking tiles and even bringing down part of the ceiling. Sadly, insurance will only cover a small part of the cost — and repairs are expected to total £40,000–£50,000.
On top of this, the church is struggling with:
An annual bill of £17,000 to remain part of the Church of England
A separate £6,000 repair bill for a nearby church building
No water supply or usable toilet facilities
A desperate need for more volunteers to keep things running
Without urgent help, the church may be forced to close permanently.
St Andrew’s isn’t just a building — it’s part of our community’s soul. It’s where we gather, remember, celebrate, and find peace.
That’s why I’m asking, please, will you help us?
Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward saving and restoring this special place.
If you can’t donate, please consider sharing this page or attending our public meeting at 7pm on 26th June at the church to find out more.
Thank you so much for your kindness and support. Let’s save St Andrew’s together.
— James
