Help Save the Unicorn Centre
As many of you will know, the Unicorn Centre in Middlesbrough has announced that it will close its doors at the end of October 2025. Since 1998, this RDA (Riding for the Disabled Association) centre has been a lifeline for children and adults with additional needs across Teesside. Over the years, the centre has welcomed riders, families, carers, and volunteers into a community built around horses, offering therapy, friendship, confidence, and opportunity.
The impact of equine therapy is profound. Riders improve balance, posture, and coordination. They gain resilience, independence, and joy. Families find support, understanding, and belonging. Volunteers and staff see lives transformed every day. Quite simply, there is nowhere else like the Unicorn Centre.
This fundraiser has been set up by a collective group of riders, their families, parents, friends and supporters who have all seen first-hand the incredible benefits of this special place. Together, we want to give the centre a fighting chance.
We have set an urgent fundraising target of £100,000. These funds will help secure the future of the centre, protect the horses, staff, and volunteers, and ensure that this community can continue to thrive for generations to come.
If, despite our best efforts, we cannot save the Unicorn Centre in its current form, all donations will still create lasting impact. Funds raised will be distributed evenly to other local charities who also work tirelessly to support adults and children with disabilities across Teesside, including JPC Community Farm, Daisy Chain Project, Vision25 and Senses Wellbeing Centre.
Please, if you are able, donate and help us spread the word. Together we can give the Unicorn Centre the chance it deserves.
