Urgent aid needed:Time is not on our side Save Issa's family

Dear Free People of The World:

I am Issa, a biomedical graduate from Gaza, I had my master’s in molecular biology from Budapest and currently looking for an opportunity to pursue a PhD in Biomedical Sciences.

I am writing to you and extending my heartfelt plea to you, driven by the terrible situation that my family is going through in Gaza.

Since the 7th of October 2023, my family has been facing death, displaced several times, especially since they left our family home, which is in the West Khan Yunis UNRWA refugee camp. As most of the neighborhood was destroyed by rubble, and danger to live there. Yet they are still escaping the non-stoppable bombing in a tent at Mawasi Rafah (West Rafah), and recently they had to move again for the fourth time. Living in the most inhumane conditions.

Meanwhile, we are losing innocent lives without any merciful action. Despite all urgent international efforts to stop the indiscriminate bombing, all ceasefires have failed.

I just collected my confidence and felt the urgent need to try all possibilities that I can do while I am abroad to help my family evacuate safely. I decided to start fundraising now. Indeed, every single moment counts. I believe that with your collaboration and donation, it is possible to save their lives, especially with the imminent attack on Rafah.

I have nine members in my family: my parents. There are five sisters and two brothers. Unfortunately, I lost my dad (Mohammed Abuowda) on March 28, 2021. He was a well-known advocate for Khan Yunis.

I have my mom Mariam in Gaza, along with my five sisters (Samia, Salwa, Nada, Khawla, and Lobna) and my brother Abdelaziz. All of them are currently in Gaza, except me and my oldest brother.

My mother retired a few years ago from teaching Arabic literature. My older sister, Samia, is a microbiologist. Samia was always behind me, supporting me and encouraging me to continue my education. My sister, Salwa, was preparing for her graduation from a master’s program in psychology. Unfortunately, all universities were destroyed. Nada recently graduated from law school as a second bachelor beyond Arabic literature studies. My sister Khawla is married and has the cutest four kids. My brother Abdelaziz is always helping the family, taking the responsibility to make sure my mom and sisters do not need anything. Especially since my education journey to Budapest.

How your contribution will help my family:

• Every single donation will be highly appreciated, as your donation will save my family from the daily killing and enable them to leave Gaza for Egypt through Rafah Cross. Cost per person is 5000 dollars as charged by the Egyptian organization Hala.

• Help them financially in case of an urgent need in Gaza.
