Urgent Aid Needed for Farmers and Their Animals
Donation protected
Hi friends. I'm Angel Powell from Charleston, SC and I'm writing this on behalf of my brother, and his friends and fellow farmers in Oconee, Pickens, and Anderson counties of Upstate South Carolina.
As we all know, the devastation from Helene is unfathomable. Hay and grass were washed away in floods, leaving surviving animals with nothing at all to eat. Farmers are struggling to keep their livestock alive while grappling with losses all around them.
These farmers gathered together, donated hay, raised money, and just this week hauled 5 semi loads of hay (178 round bales) to Gray, Tennessee, where they were delivered to Joseph Redmond, the President of the Washington County Cattleman Grower's Association.
Today they received a desperate call from North Carolina. In more rural areas, they are unable to distribute round bales of hay and need small, more expensive square bales that will be distributed by helicopter. These farmers are again willing to donate their time and trucks to haul the hay, but they need some help to offset costs.
Each load will cost approximately $5000.00. If more is raised, the money will go towards another load of hay or directly into the hands of the communities in the mountains.
I know there is so much need, but I appreciate any help you can provide to the farmers!
