Urgent help is needed for a senior facing street homelessness. My name is Louis Juarez, and I need to leave my home of 25 years on May 1, 2026 per court agreement.

I lived with my partner of 30 years, Gordon, until his sad and untimely death a few years ago. After Gordon's passing, I no longer had a partner to share expenses with and, over the course of two years, I spent down my entire life-savings, mostly on rent. I have no more savings and, for reasons outside of my control, am ineligible for most forms of public benefits.

If I fail to leave my apartment by May 1, 2026, I will be forcibly evicted by the Sheriffs Department soon after. In San Francisco, I am eligible for a limited set of housing subsidies, but only once I am technically homeless. Given my age and condition, it would be dangerous for me to live on the street or in a shelter while I wait for placement in a new and sustainable home. I am raising money for temporary housing and for my living expenses so I can reach the next chapter of my life safely and with dignity.
