So, my name is Kerston. I am the only child to two of the greatest parents in the world. Right before Easter, we were kind of hit with a heavy blow that all of a sudden, out of nowhere, my mother was in the hospital. They don't know what happened, and she was on the respirator, and they didn't know if she was going to make it. They ended up releasing her a few weeks later with "broken heart syndrome," which is where the heart valve changes shape due to stress on a person's body.

As soon as she was released from the hospital, within a week, there were reports that my stepdad was acting strangely at work. He's a boat mechanic out on Las Vegas' premier marina. He was rushed to the hospital, and within two days, he was found unresponsive. They do not know how long he was unresponsive, and after that point, he's lost all of his physical abilities and has been transferred from hospital to care center, then back to hospital, then back to another care center, with being on hospice a center of conversation.

My dad was the working side of that relationship. My mom had broken her back years back, so he was pretty much the breadwinner for the home during that time. My mom still needs help, which she can't get because she's spending most of her time traveling from Arizona to Las Vegas, where her husband is in several different facilities depending on the day. We are at the point where savings is running out. I wish I made more money than I do, but I don't, unfortunately. So, I am reaching out for help. It would be nice for one month if she didn't have to stress on bills or on gas or someone to drive her to go see her husband, who she loves very much and otherwise cannot.

It breaks my heart to see both parents go down at the same time, and there are no answers for what happened to either of them. I'm at the point where I am seeking outside help. No one can explain why I had two perfectly healthy parents that were completely functional all of a sudden be three steps from death's door. Anything that anybody can donate to help, even if it's a dollar, would be an angel in my eyes right now. Food stamps and state access to help continue to deny her. There are no food banks in that area except for once a month you can come get a small box. I guess for lack of better words, my family needs help. Anything that I can raise will be going right to the bills and to groceries that she needs, as well as help with medication she can't pay for, and most importantly, I don't want her to miss any of her mortgage payments. They have been living there for 20 years, and I would hate to see them lose it.

So, thank you guys for taking the time to read this. I know some people have different relationships with their parents. I love them both very much, and it breaks my heart to have to watch them lose each other, and it breaks my heart and soul watching me possibly lose my parents. If anyone knows anything about that broken heart syndrome, the whole idea is to decrease stress so that it doesn't happen again, and that's what I am trying to do.
