Urgent Aid for Displaced Community in Shakara (West Bank)

Donation protected
11 Palestinian families have just been forced to flee from their homes in Shakara, just outside the village of Duma (West Bank). Your support is urgently needed.

I spent two weeks with the now-displaced families this past winter while volunteering with Torat Tzedek. Just last week, armed extremist settlers forcibly displaced this entire community. The settlers beat people, destroyed homes, cut the electricity, and stole livestock. Fearing for their safety, all 11 families ultimately evacuated, leaving everything behind—much of which the settlers subsequently pillaged and destroyed. Without the means to rebuild, these parents and children face an uncertain and challenging future.

This displacement marked the culmination of an extended campaign. Since August, residents have endured escalating attacks from an outpost established just 250 meters outside the community. Settlers came as often as four times a day to harass and intimidate the families, sometimes bearing guns. They destroyed and stole property, broke into homes during the night, drove their livestock daily through residents' private property, and physically assaulted Palestinians—as well as Israeli and international activists—with clubs and pepper spray.

Engaging in protective presence made me a first-hand witness to similar attacks and their effects, both material and psychological. The illegal, indefensible, and utterly unprovoked violence inflicted upon these families goes against every value I was taught over 15 years of Jewish education.

These families cannot rebuild without support. If you can't directly donate, please consider sharing this appeal. Donations will go directly toward shelter, repairing or replacing destroyed infrastructure, food and clothing, and support for the families' future.
