My name is Jackie. I'm raising funds for my sister. About a week ago she was assaulted by her partner.

My sister is a beautiful person, one of the strongest people I know. It's taken us time to sit and write this because it's been a terrible time. Between the days it's been difficult for her to move and rest. She's keeping her identity protected right now too (her name won't be included).

I am a person you can connect with, and another person is Maiiya. We will answer any messages that you send our way.

Our sister wrote down her thoughts to share:

"Me sentí dividida entre la persona que estaba herida y la persona que tenía que moverse para encontrar seguridad. Cuando encontré la seguridad, no pude moverme. Sentí culpa hacia mí misma y estúpida. Quería cortarme todo el cabello. Todo lo que amaba de mí misma, quería borrarlo.Soy una mujer trans con una hija. Esa es la parte de mí que fue atacada. Porque expresé mis preocupaciones y defendí mis límites. Protegí a mi hija y fui atacada por ello.

"I felt divided between the person that was hurt and the person that had to move to find safety. When I did find safety, I couldn't move. I felt blame towards myself and stupidity. I wanted to cut all of my hair off. Everything I loved about myself, I wanted to erase.

I'm a trans woman with a daughter. Thats the part of me that was attacked. Because I voiced my concerns and stood up for my boundaries. I protected my daughter, and I was attacked for it.

I packed what we needed and left."

She has a safe place to stay with her daughter for now. The funds we are raising are to help fix some problems with her car and funds to meet their basic needs for the next couple of months.

Her car is an essential tool in caring for her autistic daughter.
