My name is shanika , and I am fundraising to help families in Jamaica whose lives were destroyed by Hurricane Melissa. This Category 5 storm severely impacted multiple parishes, including St. Elizabeth, St. Ann, Westmoreland, St. James, Portland, and Negril, where homes were ripped apart, entire communities flooded, cars were swept away or buried under debris, and families were left with no electricity, no clean water, no food, and no way to communicate with loved ones because power lines and communication towers collapsed. My own family’s home in Bamboo, St. Ann was destroyed, and seeing the devastation pushed me to take action. I am putting together two large barrels filled with clothing, canned food, hygiene products, shoes/slippers, baby supplies, and other essentials to ship directly to these communities, and this GoFundMe will help cover the cost of supplies, barrels, shipping, and purchasing materials to repair roofs and secure damaged homes for families who have nowhere else to go.
