3 peaks challenge
The National Three Peaks Challenge is one of the UK’s most iconic endurance feats — climbing the highest mountains in Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scafell Pike), and Wales (Snowdon/Yr Wyddfa) within 24 hours.
Our challenge will begin on Saturday the 6th of September, at around 5pm we will ascend Ben Nevis (1,345 m) – The tallest of the three peaks. Towering above Fort William, this Scottish giant starts the challenge with steep climbs and often moody weather.
No time to waste we will then drive from Fort William to Wasdale, aiming to climb Scafell Pike (978 m) in the early hours of Sunday 7th. The highest mountain in England is the shortest but arguably the trickiest, especially if tackled in the dark, which may be the case depending on timing and weather conditions.
From Wasdale we will then travel to Snowdonia in Wales for an afternoon ascent of Snowdon/Yr Wyddfa (1,085 m) – This final peak can feel deceptively friendly, but fatigue and weather can turn it into a serious test of resilience.
Completing all three mountains in under 24 hours will require more than just stamina:
Walking Time: Roughly 13–14 hours total
Driving Time: Around 10 hours between mountains
Your support will be crucial in completing this challenge: Sleep deprivation, sore legs, stiff joints, and the mental challenge of hiking in the dark or rain across unknown terrain are all part of the package. We are training hard to make this challenge a success, getting "hill fit" and trying to raise money for a fantastic cause, but any support you can give would be greatly appreciated; be it by donating money to the charity or any food, drink, equipment or advice to us. Your feedback and support is greatly appreciated, thank you.
