Uplift Melissa and Her 4 precious children
Donation protected

Hello, my name is Melissa, and I am a proud single mother of four beautiful children. My children are my world, my strength, and my purpose. We are a close-knit family that cherishes the simple moments—our Sunday hikes, our laughter-filled board game nights, and the joy of simply being together. But recently, our lives were turned upside down in the most unimaginable way, and today, I am humbly reaching out for your help.
This is the story of my 18-year-old son, Malachi—a young man with a heart of gold, a spirit full of light, and a life that has only just begun. It is also the story of our family’s strength, our faith, and our urgent plea for support as we face the biggest battle of our lives.
A Mother’s Journey From Fear to Faith
When I found out I was pregnant with Malachi, I was still mourning the loss of my daughter’s father. I was young, overwhelmed, and terrified. I already had a two-year-old daughter, and I didn’t know how I would manage. My pregnancy was difficult, and at one point, doctors were uncertain if Malachi would even survive. But by the grace of God, he made it. And he has been a blessing every single day since.
Malachi is the kind of young man who lights up every room. He’s always been full of energy, curiosity, and kindness. He loves taking his younger siblings on mini adventures, showing us new hiking trails, or teaching his little brother all the cheat codes to their favorite video games. He spends time camping with his grandfather, joking with cousins, playing sports, and working part-time to help out at home. And in November of last year, he gave his life back to God and was baptized, full of excitement and renewed purpose for the road ahead.
Little did we know, just weeks after his 18th birthday, Malachi would be facing the fight of his life.
The Diagnosis That Shattered Our World
In January of this year, Malachi began experiencing unusual fatigue and pain. At first, we thought it was just a flu or maybe stress from school and work. But things quickly worsened. He went from being an active, athletic teen to barely being able to stand or walk. Alarmed, we sought medical attention—and that’s when we received the devastating news.
Malachi was diagnosed with **myxoid pleomorphic liposarcoma**, a rare and aggressive form of hereditary soft tissue cancer.
This diagnosis felt like history repeating itself in the most cruel and heartbreaking way. Malachi’s father tragically passed away six years ago from the same cancer. His older half-brother was diagnosed at just 14 years old and lost his life at 19. Now, Malachi—my baby, my miracle—is facing the very same illness.
There are no words to describe the pain of watching your child go from running into your arms to being confined to a bed, unable to hug you back. Malachi now requires a wheelchair, full-time care, and intensive treatment. The once vibrant young man who loved exploring nature and playing ball with his friends now spends most of his days in bed, relying on others for everything—even sitting up.
The Financial and Emotional Toll
I work full-time with the local school district and part-time as an in-home nurse. I’ve always taken pride in being responsible, hardworking, and able to provide for my family. But right now, I cannot work. I am currently on Family Leave because Malachi needs around-the-clock care. Unfortunately, that leave doesn’t provide enough to cover our growing expenses.
Our financial situation has become overwhelming. With hospital visits, medications, transportation, and daily needs piling up, I am struggling to keep up. We do not have an adequate vehicle to transport Malachi and his wheelchair safely to and from chemotherapy and medical appointments. Every trip is a challenge, and without the right vehicle, his care suffers.
As a mother, nothing is more painful than feeling helpless. I would give anything to see Malachi stand up and wrap his arms around me again. But until then, I am doing everything in my power to make sure he knows he is not alone, and that he is loved, supported, and surrounded by faith.
Why We Need Your Help
I created this GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for the following urgent needs:
A wheelchair-accessible vehicle to safely transport Malachi to and from treatments and appointments.
Medical expenses not covered by insurance, including co-pays, prescriptions, and specialized equipment.
Daily living expenses to help us stay afloat while I’m unable to work full-time.
Support for Malachi’s comfort and care, including special bedding, mobility aids, and in-home care services.
Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward improving Malachi’s quality of life and helping our family stay strong through this storm.
Our Faith Keeps Us Going
Despite everything, we are holding on to faith. Malachi’s recent baptism is a constant reminder of God’s grace and the power of new beginnings. We believe that miracles happen every day—and sometimes, they happen through the compassion of others.
We are asking not only for your financial help but also for your prayers. We believe in the power of community, of strangers coming together in love, and of hope being stronger than fear.
A Message from the Heart
To those reading this: thank you for taking the time to hear our story. If you’ve ever faced something that turned your world upside down, you know how humbling it is to ask for help. But sometimes, love means leaning on others when you can’t carry it all alone.
If you’re unable to donate at this time, we ask that you please share this campaign. Every share helps us reach someone new who might be able to lend a hand. Every prayer lifts us a little higher. Every act of kindness reminds us that we are not alone.
Malachi is a fighter. He is determined to keep going. And I am determined to fight for him every step of the way.
Thank you in advance for your support, your prayers, and your love. From one mother’s heart to yours—God bless you.
